What surprised you about your job search? I was surprised by how many positions were available and how willing most employers are to interview early.

What’s your advice for residents beginning their job search? It’s never too early to start. Become comfortable with the process of job searching and set smart goals for physician residency. Practice makes perfect.

What was the most important factor in your search for a new job? My family’s happiness and my professional development.

How did you find your job? I started searching by job type and region. Then I narrowed down jobs by criteria most important to me and my family. Being clear and upfront with recruiters was key.

Any other advice? We found multiple avenues to learn more about my future employer and place of residence. It turned out that they were doing their homework on me as well. The power of personal recommendations and endorsements cannot be overstated.
