EMPLOYER: EMERGENCY MEDICINE PHYSICIAN AT LEXINGTON MEDICAL CENTER IN WEST COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA

IN PRACTICE SINCE: 2002

What surprised you about your first post-residency job or job search?

There are many job listings online that are not actually active.

What’s your advice for residents who are beginning their job search?

My physician job search advice is to use online resources such as PracticeLink and utilize physician recruiters who are knowledgeable about opportunities in their specific geographic area.

What was the most important factor in your search for a new job?

A stable work environment with minimal staff turnover (both physicians and ancillary staff).

How did you find your job?

The job opportunity was posted on PracticeLink. PracticeLink allowed me to connect directly with the physician recruiter for the position I was interested in.

How did PracticeLink help you in your job search?

PracticeLink allowed me to easily search for job opportunities in multiple states.

Any other advice?

The process of interviewing and evaluating a job opportunity takes much longer than one would typically anticipate. So begin a job search early. •
