What surprised you about your first post-residency job search? There are a wide variety of jobs, from private to academics. You have to know early on what you want in your career.

What’s your advice for residents who are beginning their physician job search? My advice for all residents is to start searching for a job early and contact as many people as you know and spend time emailing physician recruiters.

What was the most important factor in your search for a new job? I was looking for a collegial environment and a pleasant team of physicians.
